Some hard working dogs receive eye exams

Some hard working dogs got their eyes checked out on Friday afternoon.
The Ophthalmology Service at the UT Veterinary Medical Center hosted its second annual service dog eye exam event. Board-certified veterinary ophthalmologists provided free eye screening exams for certified service dogs.
These eye exams are much needed in order for the dog to do what it does best, help people in need. "They search the structures, and if they find anybody they bark, and we flag that area, we GPS the coordinates, and we send that back to our rescue team, who then bring in the equipment and start the process of actually removing debris in order to reach those victims," said Heather Wilkerson of Tennessee Task Force 3.
To qualify dogs must be active "working dogs."
